Annual Report
Keep Kansas City Beautiful formed in May 2000 as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Bridging The Gap to work in partnership with citizens, businesses and government in creating a cleaner and more beautiful metropolitan Kansas City.
Guided by the key principles of education, individual responsibility, public-private partnerships and volunteer action, Keep Kansas City Beautiful coordinates several projects and participates in many collaborative efforts to prevent litter, reduce waste and improve the beauty of the community.
The efforts of community partners and thousands of volunteers have had such a great impact that according to the 2008 Keep Kansas City Beautiful Litter Index, the most littered neighborhoods from the past eight years are cleaner.
It is only through the hard work of volunteers that KKCB is able to conduct its programs and that local communities are able to continually improve. In 2008, more than 5,800 volunteers donated their time to serve on the KKCB Board of Directors or committees, survey litter, clean litter, landscape, recycle, plant gardens, hold environmental events, manage data, present educational information, and more.
Kansas Citians are also making an impact by reducing waste at special outdoor events. In 2008, Keep Kansas City Beautiful served 50 Green and Litter-Free Events where 288,000 event attendees recycled more than 7 tons of material.
Our mission is to involve citizens, businesses and government in creating a cleaner and more beautiful Kansas City.
Keep Kansas City Beautiful is guided by an active, diverse Board of Directors consisting of community volunteers.
